Thomas Processing’s innovative research efforts toward continuous coating machine technology transformed batch tablet coating into an automated, continuous process.
Our continuous coating machines produce tablets with excellent coating uniformity and a high throughput. They also use a smaller diameter drum to provide more uniform coating and less damage to the integrity of the tablet.
Thanks to their shallow bed depth, Thomas’s continuous coating machines produce a much more uniform coating than batch coaters. The coating difference protects the integrity of the product and ensures better performance for the user. Investing in a Thomas continuous tablet coater enhances all aspects of your tablet coating operations.
Continuous coating processes offer excellent coating uniformity, thanks to two advanced coating technologies: the spray gun and shallow coating pan. Continuous coating machines are manufactured with an increased number of spray guns to improve coating uniformity and deposition. Their shallower pan diameter also exposes a larger number of tablets to the spray to improve tablet coating uniformity.
With batch processes, you’re required to load the pan, pre-warm the tablets, dry, cool, and discharge them. With continuous coating processes, you save time and create a much higher throughput.
Film coating processes expose tablets to harsh conditions like mechanical stress during tumbling and high temperatures and humidity for up to four hours. In continuous coating equipment, exposure to harsh conditions only lasts for 10 to 20 minutes.
We don’t just sell you a continuous coating machine and wish you well—Thomas professionals build partnerships that set you up for long-term coating success.
For more than 50 years, Thomas has spearheaded innovations and improvements in the tablet coating industry. We’re committed to excellence in tablet coating, starting with our industry-leading ACCELA COTA tablet coating systems. Our ACCELA COTA technology changed the coating manufacturing process when it was introduced in 1969 and set the industry standard with unrestricted airflow, thermodynamic efficiency, and flexibility.
We’re known for designing coating machines from the ground up and making improvements as technology evolves. Our team improved industry standards again in 1993 by designing and manufacturing the revolutionary FLEX CTC, a machine with a fully perforated drum that achieves the same high performance demonstrated in our ACCELA COTA technology—but in less time.
Thomas engineers continue to raise the bar with ACCELA CTC 500, a continuous coating machine that extends the capabilities of FLEX CTC. A smaller version of the FLEX CTC, ACCELA CTC 500 is equipped with revolutionary improvements that benefit the pharmaceutical industry on a larger scale.
With our expert system solutions, your tablet coating equipment remains in high-quality condition for years to come.
